DeRidder LA to Bunkie LA

This was such a fun day. I rode through a lot of small farming communities. The one thing that you really get from the small Louisiana town is the sense of community pride. They all have something special that makes them just a little unique. Many are so picture perfect and very green. Since leaving Texas we definitely have heard the word Ya' all a lot more. Another interesting thing is that both Royce and I have been mistaken for foreigners. I guess that do not talk to people from California much. Then there is that Southern hospitality. The drivers are definitely some of the more considerate that we have come across. The highlight of my day was the Chilcot State Park. It was different that anything I had ever seen. We would have camped here if the weather were better. It was so great riding through it. Royce rode out with me, but did not get to make it through the park on his bike. We walked across the street for dinner and before we were done the rain began to pour. It was nice that we had made it in before the rain fell.

Once you get to St Augustine, maybe you will want to make the return trip via bicycle also......... NOT ? You both are in fantastic shape. Your knees must be made of steel. and your spines also. Way to go !! I cant even imagine riding a bike that far. My back hurts just riding one around the block. Terry B
